Abe Goldfarb joins the cast of WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE: THE MUSICAL

The full cast has been announced for WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE: THE MUSICAL™ ahead of the production’s official world premiere and the launch of the “Take a Shot” tour in Phoenix later this month. The show will run in a limited three-week engagement from Saturday, May 28 through Sunday, June 19 at the Herberger Theater in Phoenix • Stage West before heading out on an open-ended national tour that will continue through Louisville, Ky., Fort Worth, Texas, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with seated companies and international productions of the show currently in development. The tour follows a sold-out tryout show of the musical at Art Park Players in Deer Park, Texas last August. For tickets and up-to-date information on the “Take a Shot Tour”, visit www.womenofacertainage.com.
In this outrageously funny hit, Abe Goldfarb (Broadway “Beetlejuice” and voiced several Pokemon characters) plays six different lovers, foils, accomplices and a supremely British TV singing competition judge. Goldfarb is joined by the hilarious trio of Andrea Canny (37-year career on stage and opened Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage at MGM Studios in Orlando), Fredericka Meek (TV actress and one of two “Coquettes” who performed with Conan O’Brien on his “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television” tour), and Sheri Sanders (founder of Rock the Audition and “Little Becky” on the Urinetown National Tour).
After putting their dreams on hold to raise families and build careers, Bev (Andrea Canny), Max (Fredricka Meek) and Lulu (Sheri Sanders) are ready to grab life through the mic, reclaim their college dreams of Be singing sensations, and compete for glory in the hit American Starmaker TV singing competition! They’ve been rehearsing for weeks, and nothing’s going to stop them — except, apparently, the show’s age limit. Fired for being too old, they take matters into their own hands to capture the attention of the show’s brutally honest judge: one way or another! Armed with nothing more than a few arcade game guns, a few cookies and some new voices, hilarity ensues as the crazy characters of WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE: THE MUSICAL™ go to great lengths to prove that there is no age limit for taking a picture of your dreams. Especially when karaoke night is so easy to hold hostage.
Shirley Johnston and Doña Oxford join as off-stage vocalists and understudy, and TJ Mannix on stand-by for Goldfarb.
Featuring twenty infectious original songs by Jeff Thomson (Music) and Jeremy Desmon (Lyrics), WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE: THE MUSICAL™ features an original book by Desmon, directed by Natalie Nucci (“Menopause The Musical”) and choreography by four-time Ovation Award winner Lee Martino. WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE: THE MUSICAL™’s design team includes multi-Emmy Award-winning Andy Walmseley (Set Design: “American Idol”, “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire”, “So You Think You Can Dance”, “America’s Got Talent”, “West End & Touring: Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story”, “Blood Brothers”), Steve Shapiro (“Sound Design”) and Ryan A. Patridge (“Menopause The Musical”, “The Bronx Wanderers – Las Vegas,” “Austin City Limits”). The tour includes the vocal direction of Andrew David Sotomayor (Tours: “Tootsie – The Musical”, “Margaritaville – The Musical”) and Adam MacDonald (Tours: “Wicked”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”) and the group arrangements and performances by Tony and Grammy nominee August Eriksmoen (Broadway: “Come From Away”, “Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway”, “First Date”).
