Dan Stevens (‘Solos’) talks about his singing stage partner Morgan Freeman
“It’s really a project that was born from the pandemic and the limitations of filming, but also thematically”, explains Dan Stevens about the science fiction anthology “Solos”. It asks “a lot of questions that many people asked during the lockdown and during the quarantine.” Created by David weil for Amazon, all seven episodes feature esteemed actors giving monologues in isolated settings. Stevens continues in his exclusive interview with Gold Derby (watch the video above), “David clearly followed everyone down the rabbit hole and really spawned an episode of each of these questions.”
The actor appears as Otto in the final episode titled “Stuart” opposite Morgan freeman in the eponymous role. He reveals: “It was very nice to share a space with him, especially during a pandemic where everyone in the crew is behind a mask and a visor and several meters away, then there is Morgan Freeman without a mask right in front. you.” Filming their beach scene in “a really big studio,” Stevens says, “Everything was shot in a very controlled environment.” He laughs about Freeman, “He loves singing and between takes he would sing just to me. It was amazing. ”Stevens says of what he learned from working with the Oscar-winning actor,“ He’s an amazing man to watch work. His thought process crosses his face. Stevens also has a voice role as Tym in the episode “Peg”. He reveals, “I actually didn’t see too many other episodes, but I was part of another episode. I am the voice of the on-board computer for Helene Mirrenof the episode, which they shot first, so I had a privileged look at someone else’s episode to see the tone. Stevens explains of the choice of American accents for his roles in the Amazon Prime miniseries, “I didn’t want to rely too much on pinning to a specific location because there is something quite abstract in particular about it. our episode and it’s really about interpersonal rather than geo-specific.
