Independent film, television financier Bondit Media Capital expands in Canada in partnership with Arcana Studio
Bondit will be the majority owner of an entertainment production and finance company that will provide capital solutions to content creators in film, television, digital and commerce. It is an extension of the Santa Monica-based US operation of Bondit that provides financing against minimum guarantees, tax credits, corporate debt and bridging loans. Bondit, along with its sister company Buffalo 8 and ABS Payroll, also manages a range of back office functions for producers.

Bondit, co-founded by Helderman and COO Luke Taylor in 2013, has made loans totaling more than $ 5.25 billion to more than 325 feature films and TV shows, including 2018 Oscar nominees. That figure matches all the funding that Bondit has facilitated and includes $ 150 million that he invested directly and $ 100 million that he channeled through hedge funds and family offices that he works with.
As pandemic insurance and bank funding dried up after the Covid-19 hit last year, Bondit dramatically improved its visibility and funded and completed production of over 40 film and television projects in the $ 8 million to $ 10 million range since last June.
Bondit’s credit facility with hedge fund Revere Capital was extended earlier this month to $ 70 million from $ 20 million. Bondit is backed by Accord Financial, a publicly traded company, which provides financing to a range of industries.
Arcana has an IP library of 5,000 characters, including one of the largest in the world for graphic novels. He opened an animation division in 2012. He comes out Mechanical girl in June and its current production slate includes Hero of the Golden Masks, Ultraduck, Mistaknocik and Go fishing. The company has carried out senior debt lending operations on around ten films, including co-financing American Headquarters-start Bruce Willis, with a Bondit Media Capital production team.
