MSC OPAS announces return from pandemic with four shows this fall – WTAW
Texas A&M’s MSC OPAS performing arts series returns this fall with four shows in the wake of the pandemic.
Executive Director Anne Black said, “We, like you and our audience, are ready to be back. And I think everyone is really up for some live entertainment. We’ve all zoomed in and broadcast for too long.
Black says two of the shows feature Tony Award nominees. One is Michael Cavanaugh, who will perform songs by Billy Joel and Elton John. The other is J. Bobby Spencer, who appeared in the OPAS performances of Midtown Men. Black says Spencer is presenting a one man show about how he went from his hometown of Plano, Texas to Broadway.
The other shows feature vocal group The Barricade Boys and a holiday concert by The Kingdom Choir.
Subscribers of the 2019-2020 OPAS season have until June 30 to purchase their tickets. Single tickets will go on sale to the general public from July 15.

After a turbulent year, OPAS is pleased to announce the four concerts to Brazos Valley this fall as part of the 2021-22 “Let’s get together” season. OPAS Executive Director Anne Black explains, “While there are no Broadway shows in our fall lineup, we are very happy to feature award-winning artists from Broadway and the West End – including two Tony Award nominated actors in concert Michael Cavanaugh and J. Robert Spencer. Black continues, “The public at OPAS will recognize Bobby because he is also part of the popular group The Midtown Men. And wait to hear the Barricade Boys perform at our opening show! As for the Kingdom Choir? Their happy message is exactly what we need right now.
Black sums it up: “We started the pandemic with a simple message about the healing power of the arts. We kept this message in mind as we thought about what programs to host this fall. We hope customers will join us again at Rudder for these four events, as each carries a special message of coming together. “
