Red Mill! calls on musicians ahead of West End premiere
West End production Red Mill! called on musicians to join the piece for its fall premiere.
The Tony Award-nominated musical will premiere at the Piccadilly Theater, which will be released by A pretty woman later this year when this show moved to the Savoy Theater.
Speaking to social media today, the show asked for people who can play listed instruments (each new line marks a new position):
– Keys 2 / Associate chef
– Flute / Clarinet / Tenor Saxophone / Baritone Saxophone
– Trumpet / Flugelhorn / Piccolo Trumpet
– Violin / Viola
– Electric guitar / Acoustic Gutar / Nylon guitar
– Electric bass / straight bass
– Drums inc Latin percussions, mallets and electronic percussions
Potential applicants should send an email [email protected] before 5 p.m. on Thursday April 29, 2021 with a short cover letter (no more than one page) describing their suitability for the position.
The production also said it was “committed to a workplace culture that embraces diversity and inclusion across all departments.”
Directed by Alex Timbers, Red Mill! has a book by John Logan, choreography by Sonya Tayeh and musical supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine. The design team includes Derek McLane (sets), Catherine Zuber (costumes), Justin Townsend (lighting), Peter Hylenski (sound), David Brian Brown (wig and hair design) and Sarah Cimino (makeup design). The cast is by Pippa Ailion.
The film version of the Moulin Rouge! premiered in 2001, starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman. He follows a group of bohemian artists trying to gain favor and stay afloat in Montmartre in Paris. At the 74th Academy Awards, he was nominated for eight Oscars, winning two. The Broadway production has been nominated for a variety of Tony Awards, with winners to be revealed in due course.
