Youth summer musical returns to Keene | News, Sports, Jobs

KEENE VALLEY – Auditions for a summer youth theater production will take place next month.
The Book and Blanket Players, sponsored by Friends of the Eastern Branch Arts, have been producing youth plays for 11 years in Keene Valley. Last summer, the rehearsals went live and their production screened in a drive-in theater. This year’s production, a new musical adaptation by Jane Austen “Pride and Prejudice”, will be held outdoors at the Keene Valley Neighborhood House property on the weekend of July 17th.
Auditions for the summer 2021 production will take place at the Keene Valley Library on May 19 at 3:15 p.m.
Youth aged 8 to 18 will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, based on the registration receipt. Workshop week and production will take place July 11-18 with performances on weekends. Registration costs $ 85.
The production team includes vocal coach and masterclass teacher Alisa Endsley, who has worked with some of Broadway’s biggest names, including songwriter Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, director Trevor Nunn, Tony Award-winning actors Patti Lupone. , George Hearn and Betty Buckley. Her talents have also taken her on numerous national tours and in leading roles in London’s West End. The other members of the creative team are Rose Chancler (Piano by Nature), Dawn Klotzko, Annie Scavo and guest English country dancers.

The Friends of the Eastern Branch Arts recently received an Adirondack Quad-Country Decentralization Grant and a Stewart’s Holiday Match Grant for this one-week drama program for youth.
“We are grateful to EBFA and the foundations that continue to support this program,” said player producer / director Kathleen Recchia. âWe are also delighted to have the opportunity to share live theater with the people who live at the Maison de quartier.
